Defqon.1 Festival moves to Biddinghuizen
For quite some time now, construction has been underway in Almere to build a new district called Almere Poort. This district is immediately adjacent to the Defqon.1 location.
In spite of several attempts to get permission to hold our event in Almere for many years to come, we must now report that the 2010 edition of Defqon.1 was the last time this event could be held at the beach location in Almere. The construction on Almere Poort unfortunately stands in the way of the festival’s future in this location.
Almere Strand was the place where Q-dance first organised a major outdoor festival. Over the last eight years, Defqon.1 has grown to become one of the most unique festivals in the Netherlands. We all have fantastic memories of the view, the dust clouds, the unique atmosphere and of course, the best music. It is with justifiable pride and sadness that we now have to say farewell to this plot of sacred ground.
Not only the broad spectrum of hard, electronic styles of music characterises the festival, but also the mixture of the wild audience with the raw fantasy world, the pounding sounds, the freaky artists, the beautifully décor of the stages and the completely different experience created each year - all of these factors have contributed to making Defqon.1 what it is today.
Taking these values as a starting point, Defqon.1 will be relocating to Biddinghuizen. The venue is the same venue where the famous Lowlands festival is also held. In terms of the creative and logistical possibilities, this is the ideal new location for Defqon.1. There will now be room for more areas, the venue offers camping facilities, and, extremely important, we do not have to make any concessions when it comes to the Defqon.1 sound norms. Additionally, the future of the festival is guaranteed at this location.
This year, Defqon.1 will be held two weeks later than was the case in previous years, on Saturday the 25th of June. Information on ticket sales and the complete schedule will be announced in early March on Q-dance.com.
